Head”s First County Appearance Falls Victim To The Weather

travis head’s hopes of making his first appearance in worcestershire ccc’s colours were thwarted by the weather today.

the county 2018 overseas player flew in on friday after a successful winter with australia, south australia and adelaide strikers.

left hander head was part of a 13 strong squad named by new head coach kevin sharp for the one-day red ball friendly with gloucestershire at bristol.

but it was the same story as in recent weeks with the weather as rain caused the game to be called off at 2pm without a ball being bowled.

worcestershire have now lost seven of the eight days cricket originally scheduled on their return from abu dhabi to the elements.

a two-dayer against somerset at taunton was reduced to a one-day affair.

worcestershire had been due to play three days of cricket against gloucestershire at bristol a fortnight ago only for it to be washed out.

then the three-day first class encounter with leeds-bradford mccu at rgs worcester last week suffered the same fate.

the worcestershire players have kept themselves ticking over after the 11-day trip to the uae either at malvern college, in the nets at New Road or on a wicket in the middle of the square at rgs worcester.
