Worcestershire went down by 196 runs on the final day of the Specsavers County Championship match with Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
The County resumed on 59-3 and were dismissed for 127 on the stroke of lunch despite an encouraging knock from Travis Head.
The Australian left hander produced some class strokes in finishing 45 not out from 61 balls with eight fours.
Worcestershire were competitive for long periods of the game and will now look to bounce back when they take on Somerset at Taunton beginning on Friday.
They resumed on 59-3 with Daryl Mitchell on 34 and nightwatchman Josh Tongue on nought.
Tongue got off the mark in impressive style with a cover drive for four off Kyle Abbott.
But is was his only scoring stroke before he was caught at mid-wicket at the second attempt by Brad Wheal off Gareth Berg.
Mitchell added a single to his overnight score but in the next over he was lbw to Abbott at 67-5.
The opener struck five boundaries in his 81 ball knock.
Head and George Rhodes joined forces for the County and the Australian left hander was quickly into his stride.
He got off the mark with a cover drive for four against Berg and then drilled Abbott through point for another boundary.
Rhodes showed some typical defiance and the sixth wicket pair added 28 in 10 overs before Rhodes – one off 40 balls – nicked Fidel Edwards through to Hashim Amla at first slip.
New batsman and first innings half century-maker Ben Cox (0) was dismissed in the next over as he was bowled by Wheal after offering no stroke.
Ed Barnard brought up the 100 with a first ball boundary off Wheal.
But he did not add to his score before being lbw to a full delivery from Edwards after looking to work the ball on the leg side.
The next ball from Edwards saw Worcestershire skipper Joe Leach (0) caught behind after he had pushed forward to a swinging delivery.
Head continued to show his class, turning Edwards through mid wicket and pulling him for boundaries.
The match ended when last man Steve Magoffin (6) was caught at mid wicket by Hampshire skipper James Vince off spinner Liam Dawson.
