Alex Hepburn gained some valuable batting practice after turning out for Willetton Dragons in a Western Australia Cricket Association Colts League match.
The Worcestershire all-rounder had not batted in either innings of the first grade two-day win over Rockingham-Mandurah which ended yesterday and turned out against Bayswater-Morley today.
Hepburn batted at number four – his first innings since October 25 – and scored 85 not out to lead Willetton to a seven wicket victory with two overs to spare.
He faced 117 balls and struck two sixes and nine fours, sharing in stands of 52 with B. Tiedel (28) and an unbroken 69 with A. Hardie (17 not out) for the third and fourth wicket respectively.
Hepburn had returned figures of 8.2-1-28-1 with the ball after Bayswater, who elected to bat on winning the toss, were dismissed for 165 in 47.2 of their 50 overs.
He had also scored 63 in a previous match for the Colts against University.
Hepburn will now be looking to transfer today's form into first grade cricket for Willetton after scores of 0, 0, 7 not out and 5 in his opening four knocks of the season.
Worcestershire Academy player Ollie Westbury's side overcame visiting Eaton by 41 runs in a Bunbury Cricket Association first grade match today.
Westbury, who has been in excellent form this winter, opened the innings and made 13 off 48 balls with two fours.
Hay Park totalled 228-5 off their 50 overs thanks to 116 from R. Knoll and 67 from skipper J. Whitney.
Westbury bowled six overs for 25 runs when Eaton batted and they never threatened to reach their target after losing half the side for 67 and were eventually bowled out for 187 in 49.5 overs.
