Worcestershire Under-17 openers Callum Lea and Jujhar Johal led a strong reply with a century stand after their side had been forced to follow on in the ECB County Championship match with Devon Under-17s at Stourport CC.
The home side resumed on the second day on 47-3 in their first innings and were bowled out for 149 in 48.4 overs in reply to Devon's 340.
The two overnight not out batsmen, Lea and Billy Cox, advanced the score to 77 before the former was dismissed for 36 off 77 balls with six fours.
But for the remainder of the innings only Cox offered much resistance before he was ninth out at 146 for a fine 59 off 107 deliveries with 10 fours.
The last five wickets fell for 18 runs.
It was a different story when Worcestershire followed on 191 in arrears as Lea and Johal posted a century stand in 34 overs.
The partnership was worth 149 in 47 overs before it was finally broken with Lea out for an excellent 64 off 136 balls with nine boundaries.
But Johal went onto make 95 not out by the close off 186 balls with 14 fours and, with Mahaaz Ahmed unbeaten on 14, Worcestershire reached 187-1 – just four runs in arrears.
