Worcestershire Academy went down by five wickets to Leicestershire Academy in the latest Tri-Series match between the counties – a 50 over contest at RGS Worcester – despite a hal;f century from opener Jujhar Johal.
The Academy chose to bat after winning the toss and Johal hit exactly fifty off 75 balls with five fours before he was run out.
He shared in an opening stand of 49 with Pete Clark and added a further 48 for the third wicket with Xavier Clarke who made 34 off 39 deliveries with two boundaries.
After Johal was third out with the total 103 in the 24th over, Edd Bragg and Matt Davies added 41 for the sixth wicket.
But the last five wickets went down for 37 runs and the Academy were dismissed for 190 in 49.5 overs.
Leicestershire lost two early wickets in reply and the game was in the balance at 63-3 but the decisive stand came from A. Trusz (77 off 101 balls with eight fours) and Ben Mike (69 not from 69 balls with one six and four fours).
They added exactly 100 in just 18 overs.
Clark (2-36 in 9.1 overs) enjoyed a couple of late successes with the ball but the visitors reached their target with 8.5 overs to spare.
