Just 100 Days To Go Until Worcs Return To Action At New Road!

There are only 100 days to go before Worcestershire CCC return to action at New Road.

The new campaign may seem a long way off at present with the current weather and the ground experiencing its first flooding for nearly two years.

But the countdown has begun to the opening County Championship fixture of the 2016 campaign.

The 30 days left in January, 29 in February – it's a leap year – 31 in March and first 10 of April will soon disappear!

Kent are the first visitors to New Road on April 10 for the start of the four-day fixture.

Worcestershire will be hoping that history repeats itself as Kent also provided the first home opposition for the 2014 season.

On that occasion Worcestershire triumphed by 125 runs despite conceding a narrow first innings lead at the beginning of their promotion year.

Alexei Kervezee top-scored with 54 in Worcestershire's 224 and Gareth Andrew (4-42) restricted Kent to 229 in reply.

Ben Cox hit a then career best 89 as Worcestershire made 270 in their second innings and Andrew (4-43) and three wickets apiece for Charlie Morris and Jack Shantry helped dismiss Kent for 140.

Roll on the 2016 season!
