Kervezee Hits 68 As Seconds Rain-Hit Clash Ends In Draw

Worcestershire Seconds had to settle for a draw from their rain-ravaged Second Eleven Championship match with MCC Universities at RGS Worcester's Flagge Meadow ground.

Only 45 overs were possible on the opening two days and the MCC, who resumed on 170-0, chose to bat on and declare at 321-2.

Worcestershire replied with 151-5 with Alexei Kervezee top-scoring with 68 before the game came to its conclusion.

When the MCC continued their innings, century-maker Steven Bullen, dropped twice on the second day, was eventually dismissed by home skipper Shaaiq Choudhry for 113 from 181 balls with two sixes and 14 fours, caught by Kervezee at short mid off.

The other opener, Charles MacDonnell, was caught behind off Josh Tongue for 65 but then Tom Cullen made 102 not out from 120 balls with 14 fours.

With any chance of a positive result having gone, Choudhry used 10 bowlers.

In reply Worcestershire lost three early wickets in George Rhodes (8), Tom Fell (17) and Alex Gidman (7) in what was his first innings since suffering concussion when hit on the helmet by Nottinghamshire's Ben Hilfenhaus a fortnight ago.

Rhodes and Gidman were both caught at second slip.

Kervezee and Alex Hepburn (11) added 51 before the latter was caught behind with the total on 93.

Kervezee went onto make his side's major contribution falling at mid wicket.
