LATE CAMEO ROLE FOR COUNTY PACEMAN FINCH WITH BAT ON OPENING DAY OF FIRST TEST

Adam Finch will be hoping to make an impact with the ball tomorrow after having a late bit part role to play with the bat on the opening day of England Young Lions first ‘Test’ with Bangladesh Under-19s at Chittagong.

The Worcestershire paceman came to the wicket at number 10 in the 88th over of the day.

He went through to the close and finished four not out from eight deliveries as Young Lions closed on 261-8 from 90 overs.

Eighteen-year-old Finch claimed eight wickets in his last ‘Test’ against South Africa at Emirates Riverside last summer but these are completely different conditions.

It was slow left arm spinner Ruhel Ahmed, who opened the bowling and he was the most successful with 4-61.

Ahmed dismissed both openers – George Balderson (65) and Ben Charlesworth (99) after the pair had put on 124.

Young Lions reached 230-4 before four wickets fell quickly in the final phase of the day.

Finch’s first task will be to try and eke out some useful late order runs before taking the new ball.
