Leach And Barnard Bid To Set Up Another Final Meeting Down Under

Leach And Barnard Bid To Set Up Another Final Meeting Down Under

Worcestershire team-mates Joe Leach and Ed Barnard could be heading for another final showdown Down Under.

Leach came out on top when his North Canberra Gungahlin side overcame Barnard's team Queanbeyan District in the final of the Konica Minolta Regional Twenty20 Cup in December.

All-rounder Leach was delighted to help the Northies win their first trophy for more than a decade.

Now the two teams are through to Sunday's semi-finals of the Australian Capital Territory first grade competition for the RSM Bird Cameron Gallop Cup.

The Northies finished fourth in the eight team table to reach the last four and they will take on group winners Weston Creek Molonglo at Stirling.

The group game was abandoned as a draw because of the weather in mid November with NCG scoring 233-9 and Weston Creek Molonglo unable to start their reply.

Queanbeyan District finished third and have to do battle with runners-up Western District UC at the Jamison Oval.

The two sides should have met last weekend in the final group game but it was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The final will take place on February 1.
