Leach Helps North Canberra To Achieve Weekend Double T20 Success

Leach Helps North Canberra To Achieve Weekend Double T20 Success

Joe Leach helped North Canberra Gungahlin launch their Australian Capital Territory Konica Minolta Regional Cup T20 campaign with a double success.

The Worcestershire all-rounder continued the good form he has shown during the past month since arriving Down Under.

Leach impressed with the bat in the 57 run home win over Ginninderra and ball in the 58 run away success against South Coast District Cricket Association.

He actually captained the side in the triumph over South Coast, a role he adopted and enjoyed in the Worcestershire second eleven last summer before regaining his first team spot in place of the injured Gareth Andrew.

North Canberra won the toss against Ginninderra and Leach, batting at number three, helped to give the innings momentum with 42 offjust 27 balls – the second highest score of the innings.

He shared in a second wicket stand of 76 with B. Winkler before being second out at 109 as North Canberra amassed 196-4 in their 20 overs.

Ginninderra never looked like reaching their target and closed on 139-6.

The match against South Coast followed a similar pattern after Leach had called correctly and elected to bat.

North Canberra amassed 182-6 in 20 overs and then Leach weighed in with two wickets as South Coast were restricted to 124-5.

Leach was delighted with North Canberra's weekend work and tweeted: "Great start to T20 campaign for the Northies boys."
