Worcestershire Player's Player Of The Year Joe Leach says he should be scoring more runs batting at number eight.
The all-rounder weighed in with nearly 500 LV = County Championship to go alongside his 59 wickets in 2015.
But Leach admits he probably adopted the wrong mindset in trying to bat too aggressively because of his position in the batting order rather than focusing on constructing an innings.
Leach, who had batted at six before his bowling skills came to the fore, said: "Did I have to change my mindset batting at number eight? I actually think I probably got it wrong. That Somerset innings (when scoring 95) was a counter-attacking innings and then there was Durham.
"But speaking to Bumpy (Steve Rhodes) and Sharpy (Kevin Sharp) in particular, he felt I probably sold myself a little bit short almost playing a bit too much like a number eight rather than a batter.
"I played innings where I was a little bit too slap happy and didn't really give myself time to construct an innings.
"I think the Somerset and Durham knocks were the best numerically for me and obviously it came off.
"But in terms of constructing an innings, the 40 odd not out against Notts in the second innings was probably the best innings I played as a batter.
"I batted with Ross (Whiteley) and then the tail came in and I farmed the strike and played with a little bit more punch then with the tail-enders.
"There was also the game against Hampshire when I was batting with Mitch (Daryl Mitchell) and actually constructed an innings there.
"I was positive but not reckless. Going forward that is something I want to improve on and from number eight I should be scoring probably a few more runs than I did."
Leach added: "Is it difficult with only the tail to bat with? But I have proven I can play those innings where I can farm the strike and score at six, seven, eight an over.
"Eighteen-24 months ago I was a number six batter who was constructing innings so I probably shifted too much towards the 'I've got to go out and score really quickly' approach rather than constructing the innings.
"That was especially the case where I was in a situation where I was with a 'batsman.'"
