Leach: Success On The Horizon If Worcs Maintain Current Form

Leach: Success On The Horizon If Worcs Maintain Current Form

Vice captain Joe Leach says Worcestershire can look forward to a "very successful year" in the Specsavers County Championship and the NatWest T20 Blast if they maintain their current form.

Leach returned career best bowling figures in the T20 Blast of 5-33 as the Rapids triumphed by 38 runs against Durham Jets on Friday night with the aid of a brilliant century from Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

But now the focus switches back to the County Championship against Leicestershire at Grace Road today with Worcestershire bidding for their first win of the season after a rain-affected start.

Leach said: "We've played pretty good cricket in the Championship. If you look at the bonus points, we are the highest scoring side and that is with a wash-out.

"Without having won one game, we are fifth but there is nothing in it and, considering we haven't won a game, that is a brilliant effort.

"We just need a bit of luck, that's all it is, and if we keep playing the way we are across both formats, we will have a very successful year. We are also a proper T20 side."

Leach has plenty of respect for Leicestershire who have bolstered the strength of their squad during the winter.

He said: "They are a good side and they are not a side we will take lightly.

"They will fancy themselves against us especially with their experienced guys and they've got a well polished bowling attack and some experienced batters.

"We will have to be at our best to beat them."
