Outgoing Worcestershire CCC president Lord King of Lothbury said it was a "tremendous privilege" to be succeeded in the role by one of his cricketing heroes in former club captain Norman Gifford.
Lord King stepped down after his two year term in the position at Worcestershire CCC's AGM.
Gifford – who is now Worcestershire's spin bowling coach – has been elected into his shoes some 59 years after joining the County's playing staff.
Lord King said: "In terms of the new president, it is a great honour to precede Norman (Gifford) because as a boy I sat at the New Road end and watched him bowl over after over in that great side that brought the Championship to Worcestershire for the first time in our history in 1964.
"That team had players bowling in couples. On the batting side we had Graveney and D'Oliveira, on the bowling side we had Flavell and Coldwell and Gifford and Slade.
"Anyone of a certain age will remember when Norman bowled. He had this very unusual stance but his combination with Dougie was a wonderful combination and was lovely to see two slow left armers bowling at opposite ends at the same time.
"For me it is a tremendous privilege to hand on the presidency to someone who is a tremendous hero of mine for a long time and someone who not only played and brought the Championship to this club but is now coaching the youngsters we hope in future will bring glory to this club."
Lord King added: "I feel deeply honoured and privileged to have served as president of Worcestershire CCC.
"In many ways, it is one of the greatest honours I've ever received. "As a small boy I sat at the New Road end with my score book and I never imagined I would one day be here as president.
"I shall be proud to help and support the County in whichever way I can in the future."
Gifford said: "This is to me a great honour. I will work hard over the next two years to make sure there is still a thriving cricket club here.
"Thank you very much for what you've bestowed upon me."
