Macvicar And Milton Hit Centuries As Seconds Take Control Against Middlesex

Will MacVicar and Alex Milton both hit centuries as Worcestershire Seconds moved into a strong position on the second day of the friendly clash with Middlesex Seconds at Radlett CC.

The duo were largely responsible for Worcestershire extending their position from 120-4 overnight to 442-9 – a lead of 237.

There were four partnerships in excess of 50 runs despite the damp conditions and a couple of short breaks from rain.

MacVicar reached his century mid-afternoon in the 44th over of the day, having faced 221 deliveries and hit 11 boundaries.

He was lbw six overs later for 111, having batted for five hours, not long after Middlesex had taken the second new ball.

Several wickets had fallen at the other end during this time and wicket-keeper Milton had already joined MacVicar and put on 59 with him before MacVicar’s dismissal.

Milton continued his innings in partnership with Darrell Williams and, whilst the run rate slowed down, the pair took Worcs through to 337-7 at tea by which time Milton had brought up his half century from 65 balls.

After the interval Milton batted on with a series of partners and achieved his first Second Eleven century for Worcestershire from 164 balls in the penultimate over of the day.

Adnan Ghaus patiently supported Milton for the last 12 overs through his century but then in the final over of the day he hit two sixes and two fours and ended on 31 not out.

Worcestershire first innings continued (overnight 120-4): MacVicar lbw Arif 111, Hepburn b Feszczur-Hatchett 26, Wynn lbw Fairhead 26, Milton not out 101, Williams lbw Fairhead 27, Sanderson c Eskinazi b Balbirnie 11, Ghaus not out 31. Extras 30. Total 442-9 (136 overs).
