Malik Claims Three Late Wickets For Seconds At Abergavenny

Zen Malik picked up a trio of late wickets for Worcestershire Seconds on a truncated second day of the three-day friendly with Glamorgan Seconds at Abergavenny.

The leg spinner struck in three successive overs as Glamorgan, who were 324-2 at one stage, closed on 345-5 – a lead of 77.

A total of 35 overs were lost with rain initially forcing the players off at 12.30pm and again in mid afternoon.

Glamorgan resumed on 62-0 in reply to Worcestershire's 268 all out in which Josh Dell and Alex Milton had scored half centuries on the opening day.

Openers Nick Selman and Connor Brown extended their partnership to 103 before the former, having struck 10 fours in his 83 ball knock fell to Alex Hepburn for 60.

Hepburn enjoyed another success in bowling Brown for 55 off 93 balls with one six and eight fours at 135-2 before linking up with the Rapids squad for the NatWest T20 Blast match with Derbyshire Falcons at New Road.

Jack Murphy and Neil Brand dominated proceedings for much of the remainder of the day with a third wicket stand of 189 in 41 overs.

Brand was the more aggressive and his 111 came off only 121 deliveries with one six and 15 other boundaries.

But he became one of three successive lbw shouts from Malik – with Jeremy Lawlor and Owen Morgan also departing in the same manner.

By the close Murphy had moved onto 96 not out from 181 balls with 13 fours and Malik had the impressive figures of 3-20 from nine overs.
