Malvern College Bid For Chesterton Cup Treble At Blackfinch New Road

malvern college will be bidding to complete a hat-trick of george chesterton cup triumphs when the annual t20 finals day takes place at New Road tomorrow sunday).

they will be striving to emulate the achievement of bromsgrove school who lifted the trophy in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

malvern carried off the 2016 title thanks to a 34 ball hundred from the then worcestershire academy player, josh haynes, in the final against wrekin college.

then 12 months ago haynes again reached three figures in the 159 run success over dean close school in the final.

malvern college will take on rgs worcester in the first semi-final which gets underway at 9.45am.

then bromsgrove school will do battle with king’s school, worcester in the second semi which starts at 1pm.

the final will take place at 4.30pm.

george chesterton founded the competition in 1991 for schools across the midlands.

he played for worcestershire ccc – for whom he had a spell as president between 1990 and 1993 – and the mcc in a first class career lasting from 1949 until 1966.

he was also a master in charge of cricket at malvern college.
