Man Of Match Awards Stacking Up For County Star Moeen

Man Of Match Awards Stacking Up For County Star Moeen

Moeen Ali will be looking to make another key contribution for England when they take on Australia in today’s (Saturday’s) Royal London ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

The Worcestershire all-rounder collected his fourth man of the match award in ODIs in just over a year in Wednesday’s series opener at the Kia Oval.

Moeen’s  burst of 3-13 in his first five overs proved decisive in England’s three wicket success in the best of five series.

Although he is currently not part of the Test side, the 30-year-old has remained an integral part of Eoin Morgan’s side.

Moeen’s first man of the match award in ODIs came in February 2015 when he smashed 128 against Scotland in Christchurch that year’s ICC World Cup.

But the gongs have come thick and fast for Moeen during the past 12-13 months.

His 77 not out and 2-50 secured him the man of the match award against South Africa at Headingley in May 2017.

Another one was secured in September with a superb 102 off the West Indies attack at Bristol.

Then in March figures of 3-36 and a useful 23 earned Moeen a man of the match award against New Zealand in Wellington.

Moeen also passed 1,500 ODI runs against the Aussies at the Kia Oval.
