Matt Mason believes Worcestershire's crop of up and coming talent reaps the benefit of getting the same style and method of coaching from Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes and the senior backroom staff as established first team players.
Rhodes, assistant coach Mason, second eleven coach Kevin Sharp and academy coach Elliot Wilson are often seen at Malvern College at 7am during the winter months putting academy and development players through their paces.
Mason, who is also the County's bowling coach, feels this helps the youngsters in being ready and more prepared for if and when they eventually become full-time professionals at New Road.
He said: "It is well documented we are a smaller club. We haven't got the resources, we can't go searching outside of our county all the time, trying to pinch players here, there and everywhere so we have to work hard with what we've got.
"I think the positive to that is we bring on our youngsters. We work hard with them. One of the main things that Bumpy (Steve Rhodes) has installed is that all the top coaches at this club work with our younger levels, the Academy etc.
"I don't know too many Directors of Cricket that work at seven in the Malvern like Bumpy does because we want to make sure they get the same messages and the same things we teach our pros so when they come into the system, they've got a headstart.
"So it is no surprise to me our Academy players are progressing into our first team.
"As coaches it is important we have that work ethic too because we can't expect our players to work hard and then not work hard ourselves. We do pride ourselves on that."
