Assistant coach Matt Mason is backing Worcestershire to bounce back from "probably our most disappointing day of the season so far" in the LV = County Championship clash with Gloucestershire at New Road.
Worcestershire were bowled out for 194 after being put into bat and then Gloucestershire reached 181-2 in reply.
But Mason points to previous occasions this season when the players have responded positively to a challenging situation and is hopeful the same will happen again tomorrow.
Mason, who is also the county's bowling coach, said: "Myself and Bumpy (Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes) were talking on the balcony and it was probably our most disappointing day of the season so far.
"We were put in on a wicket that was tough to bat on and I thought Richard Oliver acquitted himself quite well and played positively but everyone else struggled on that pitch.
"It certainly wasn't a 190 all out wicket. We were saying at the start of the day let's work really hard and see if we can get 250 and then back our bowlers to bowl them out for less.
"But unfortunately that didn't happen. We were unlucky with the toss but that can happen and you've got to learn to adapt and play according to the conditions and perhaps some of our batters didn't quite do that so well.
"Then with the ball I thought we were quite disappointing. We would have definitely bowled on that pitch, it has a good covering of grass, it's one of the faster wickets at Worcester. It does bounce.
"If I can be so bold as for once this year to criticise my bowlers. They've been fantastic all year but they got it wrong today.
"Apart from maybe Charlie Morris, they got the wrong lengths and the wrong lines on a wicket that had plenty in it still.
"Roderick is a very strong off side player and we sort of fed him on the off side. Gidman played a great knock to so we've got lots of work to do tomorrow."
Mason added: "Can we bounce back? Absolutely. That's something we've done this year. We've been in a poor position in games and somehow managed to fight our way out of trouble.
"I've no doubt tomorrow that, with some early wickets, we can keep any sort of lead to a small one and then I'll back us to bat a lot better on a pitch that should be a little bit easier and somehow salvage something from this game.
"Sitting around the dressing room after a day like that, it can easily be a quiet, sort of deflated place.
"But the lads are talking and discussing where we've gone wrong today which means they are learning and when we turn up tomorrow it's a new day, a fresh start and we will try and get ourselves back in the game.
"They are going to have bad days and today is one of them but we've had some iffy days throughout the campaign and we've always come back strongly and hopefully in this game we will do the same."
