Mason Praise For Form And Conduct Shown By Worcs Players Overseas

Matt Mason has praised the form and conduct of the Worcestershire players who have been performing abroad this winter.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Alex Hepburn, George Rhodes, Tom Fell and Ollie Westbury (Australia) and Brett D'Oliveira and Chris Russell (South Africa) have all been in action.

Assistant coach Mason says the experiences will stand them in good stead and "open doors" that may be of benefit for them further down the line in their careers.

Mason, who is also Worcestershire's bowling coach, said: "I think it's the most consistent we've had our players perform as a group who have gone abroad.

"That is great because it means they adapted very quickly to conditions and also were excepted well into their clubs.

"I know some of the feedback we've had from the clubs about our players has been very positive.

"All of them have been asked to go back so that is always a good sign.

"The players are ambassadors for this club when they go abroad and to not get a single complaint or phone call or any sort of question mark over the lads is great.

"All the feedback has been ultra-positive and we are proud of that."

Mason added: "If you can make a name for yourself here and abroad, that opens doors in the future for all sorts of things doesn't it.

"That is the great thing about sport. You certainly don't want to burn any bridges when you go abroad. It is part of the experience.

"The cricket community is a great one because all around the word everyone who plays cricket has got something in common.

"Even when cricket is finished, you keep those links so it is good for the lads to go and experience other countries."
