Mitchell And Mcc Team-Mates Facing Uphill Battle Against The Tykes

Mitchell And Mcc Team-Mates Facing Uphill Battle Against The Tykes

Daryl Mitchell and his MCC team-mates face an uphill battle after Yorkshire established a first innings lead of 151 in the traditional match with the Champion County in Abu Dhabi.

The Tykes amassed 372 all out from 114.1 overs in their first innings in reply to the MCC's 221 of which Worcestershire skipper Mitchell had scored 54 batting at number five.

The 31-year-old was able to have a first hand look at the Yorkshire batting line-up ahead of Worcestershire's opening LV = County Championship clash at New Road starting on April 12.

But absent from that side will be opener Adam Lyth who celebrated his call-up for England's tour of the West Indies next month by making 113.

Mitchell was employed as the sixth bowler used by MCC skipper Nick Compton and sent down eight tidy overs for 23 runs.

The MCC were without the services of Durham paceman Graham Onions who was nursing a groin strain after bowling just 3.5 overs.

Kent off spinner Adam Riley was the MCC's most successful bowler with 3-90 in the day-night fixture in which a pink ball is being used.

Mitchell is again expected to bat in the middle order in the MCC's second innings after Compton and England Test captain Alastair Cook saw their side through to 13-0 off five overs by the close of the second day.
