Mitchell Enjoys Most Prolific Season For Worcestershire

Mitchell Enjoys Most Prolific Season For Worcestershire

Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell is already assured of his most prolific season ahead of the final LV = County Championship clash with Essex at Chelmsford starting tomorrow (Tuesday).

The 30-year-old opener has amassed 1,311 runs at an average of 62.42 with five centuries and four other scores in excess of 50.

His form led to Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes calling for Mitchell to at least be under consideration from the England selectors.

The Badsey born player has now passed 1,000 runs in a season on four occasions.

His previous best haul was 1,180 in 2010 when helping the county to gain promotion to Division One – 18 more than in 2009 when he scored a career best 298 against Somerset at Taunton.

Here is Mitchell's season by season record in first class cricket for Worcestershire – and a brief spell in Zimbabwe for the Mountaineers – since breaking into the senior side a decade ago.
