MITCHELL FIRST CRICKET SOCIETY GUEST SPEAKER OF 2019

daryl mitchell will be the guest speaker of the worcestershire cricket society when they resume their winter cricket evenings on tuesday (january 8) in the hick pavilion (7.30pm).

january is the month where traditionally a worcestershire ccc player or official kindly give up their time to speak to the society and mitchell is filling the berth in 2019.

the 35-year-old was once again worcestershire’s leading scorer in the specsavers county championship in 2018

mitchell hit four hundreds and was the fifth highest run-getter in division one with 957 runs at an average of 36.80.

he has now struck 34 first class tons for worcestershire – 35 in total – and moved into seventh spot on their all-time list of century-makers.

but mitchell still has that desire to keep on improving.

badsey born daryl has been a first team regular at New Road for a decade now and had six years as captain between 2011 and 2016.

he will be recalling his triumphs during that period, including the memorable vitality blast success in 2018, his deep passion for football, and in particular his beloved aston villa, and his role as pca chairman for the past two years in a period of change in cricket.

non society members can attend for an admission charge of £5 per meeting.
