Opener Daryl Mitchell completed his fifth Specsavers County Championship century of the summer to strengthen Worcestershire’s grip on the third day against Gloucestershire at New Road.
The 33-year-old reached three figures off 156 balls with 10 fours and a six and went onto make 130 before being run out.
It followed on from his 120 against Derbyshire, 161 versus Northamptonshire, 121 off the Sussex attack and 142 when facing Kent.
Mitchell’s efforts helped ensure Worcestershire capitalised on their first innings lead of 105 and set Gloucestershire a 401 target after the declaration at 295-8.
Then Ravichandran Ashwin (two) and skipper Joe Leach (one) collected early wickets in Gloucestershire’s second innings.
Mitchell survived one chance on 86 when he was dropped at slip by George Hankins off Jack Taylor.
He received excellent support from Brett D’Oliveira, George Rhodes and Ravichandran Ashwin in stands of 76, 114 and 55.
Worcestershire resumed on 10-0 and D’Oliveira launched an early offensive in making 55 off 58 balls.
He followed his first innings top-score of 93 by striking 10 boundaries.
D’Oliveira’s dismissal – bowled by Liam Norwell – triggered a minor collapse.
Tom Fell fell in the same over for a second ball duck when caught behind and Joe Clarke (5) perished at square leg off a top edged sweep against Tom Smith.
But Rhodes (45) proved a valuable ally and looked in good nick before he went for to try and paddle Smith around the corner and was lbw.
Ashwin then raced to 28 until he chipped Norwell to mid wicket.
After tea Mitchell and Ben Cox, who hit two sixes in his quickfire 15, were run out and Leach was stumped off Smith before the declaration.
Leach then got to work with the ball and, after swapping ends, he induced a nick out of Cameron Bancroft (14) who fell victim to a sharp catch by Cox standing up to the stumps.
Ashwin came into the attack after six overs and he bowled Will Tavare (0) and then saw Rhodes take a fine low catch at second slip to remove Chris Dent (16).
