Skipper Daryl Mitchell believes it is "a sign of a decent team" that Worcestershire were able to overcome Northamptonshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup despite being "below par with the bat" at Milton Keynes.
Worcestershire triumphed by 88 runs after being put into bat and scoring 274-9 and then bowling the home side ut for 186.
Mitchell felt Worcestershire should have posted a bigger total and they needed half centuries from Tom Fell and Ross Whiteley and runs from the lower order to rescue them from 84-4 after 25 overs.
Then pacemen Mitchell McClenaghan, Charlie Morris and Joe Leach reduced Northants to 27-4 and 73-5 before Mitchell (4-19) cleared up the lower order.
Mitchell told BBC-Hereford Worcester's Dave Bradley: "It was nice to get the victory. I think to be honest we were below par by our standards but we got over the line which is obviously the sign of a decent side.
"I thought we were below par with the bat. I thought it was a 300 pitch. Obviously it is difficult with these 10.30 starts and losing the toss.
"It always does a bit first thing but we lost a few wickets. I thought we threw a few wickets away, a bit too early in the back end of that middle period, and we weren't able to utilise the fielding restrictions towards the end of the innings.
"With wickets in hand, we could really have pushed for 300 plus."
Not for the first time this season, the lower order all chipped in with Ben Cox, Leach, Shaaiq Choudhry and Morris making useful contributions.
Mitchell said: "All the lads now are on 12 month contracts so there is no excuse. All the lads are doing plenty of work on their batting in the winter in the indoor schools and they carry on in the summer.
"Credit to the guys down the order, they got us up to 270 which was a competitive score.
"I thought we were below par. I thought 300 was a par score out there. It was a really quick outfield and the ball went through alright as well.
"But the lads bowled pretty well upfront, bowled nice tight lines and managed to make them play a lot which is obviously the key.
"We had a bit of help from the Northants batters. There were a couple of soft dismissals in there.
"But getting them five down pretty quickly was the key and then we managed t chip away for the other five."
Mitchell followed up his 5-28 against Northants in the NatWest T20 Blast with 4-19 from 6.2 overs.
He said: "Again it was with a little helping hand from some of the Northants batters but I'll take a four-for every day of the week!
"A lot of credit has got to go to the three seamers in particular.
"They bowled very well and built a lot of pressure and fortunately for me I was able to wrap up four wickets again."
