Mixed Fortunes For Parnell And Wessels In Premier League

Mixed Fortunes For Parnell And Wessels In Premier League

Wayne Parnell was the most economical bowler for Kabul Zwanan but was on the losing side for the second successive match against Balkh Legends in the Afghanistan Premier League.

The Worcestershire all-rounder came on first change and returned figures of 1-30 from four overs, dismissing Darwich Rasooli (50) who was caught behind.

But no-one else could stem the flow of runs as the Legends amassed 244-6 in their 20 overs with Chris Gayle smashing 10 sixes in his 80.

Kabul openers Luke Ronchi (47) and Hazratullah Zazai – 62 off 17 balls – put on 86 in 5.5 overs.

The remainder of the batting could not keep up with the required run rate and Kabul closed on 223-7 with Parnell not having the chance to bat.

Kabul are occupying second spot in the table with six points from three wins and three defeats – four behind the Legends.

New Worcestershire signing, Riki Wessels, helped his team, Kandahar Knights, register their first win – a 26 run triumph over Nangahar Leopards.

Wessels scored 22 off 20 balls batting at number six as the Knights recovered from 27-5 and 75-8 to reach 136-8 in their 20 overs.

He then brought about one stumping as the Leopards were bowled out for 110 in 19.3 overs.

Despite their victory, Kandahar are still occupying bottom spot.
