Mixed Results For County Duo Hepburn And Barnard

Mixed Results For County Duo Hepburn And Barnard

Alex Hepburn and Ed Barnard finally tasted first team action in Australia – and experienced mixed fortunes for Willetton Dragons and Scarborough respectively.

The Worcestershire duo had been frustrated by the weather in last weekend's fixtures with the entire Western Australia Cricket Australia first grade programme washed out.

But today Hepburn's side defeated visiting Mount Lawley by 73 runs while Barnard was on the losing side as Subiaco Floreat defeated Scarborough by 10 wickets.

Willetton were put in and restricted to 167-7 in 40 overs with Hepburn, who went in at number three, dismissed for four.

But Mount Lawley were then bowled out for 94 in 31.2 overs with Hepburn taking one catch and bowling two overs for five runs.

Barnard batted at number six and made 16 off 12 balls as Scarborough, who were 77-1 at one stage, were dismissed for 134 in 42 overs after being put into bat by the home side.

The former England Under-19 player then took the new ball and bowled five overs for 22 runs.

Subiaco openers C. How (72) and A. Malcolm (56) shared an unbroken stand of 138 to see their side to victory in just 26.3 overs.
