Moeen And Mitchell Go Head To Head In Icc World T20 Semi-Final

Moeen And Mitchell Go Head To Head In Icc World T20 Semi-Final

Moeen Ali will face fellow spinner Mitchell Santner when Worcestershire players present and future meet in England's ICC World T20 semi-final with New Zealand in Delhi on Wednesday.

Moeen has helped England achieve their best performance in a global tournament in Asia since losing the 1987 World Cup final by seven runs to Australia in front of 95,000 spectators in Calcutta.

A thrilling 10 run success over holders Sri Lanka yesterday made sure of their place in the last four.

But New Zealand will provide formidable opposition after winning all four of their group matches.

And, in Worcestershire's 2016 NatWest T20 Blast signing Santner, they have one of the players of the tournament.

Santner is currently the joint leading wicket-taker with nine wickets and an overall analysis of 15-0-86-9.

England will be playing their third successive match in Delhi and Moeen has enjoyed mixed fortunes in the previous two games there.

The 28-year-old won the man of the match award against Afghanistan with his unbeaten 41 rescuing skipper Eoin Morgan's side.

But yesterday against Sri Lanka he conceded 32 runs in two overs of spin as he and fellow spinner Adil Rashid, two overs for 31 runs, were targeted after the pacemen had done the damage.
