Moeen Ali enhanced his chances of being selected for England's opening ICC World Twenty20 clash against New Zealand in Chittagong on Saturday after finishing as his side's top scorer in their final warm-up match.
The Worcestershire all-rounder overcame a slowish start to his innings, which included a succession of dot balls, to hit 46 off 38 deliveries against India in Dhaka before being caught on the mid-wicket boundary.
But England were beaten by 20 runs and closed on 158-6 in reply to India's 178-4.
Moeen, who had batted at number three, had bowled the first over of India's innings and conceded only four runs.
He had finished as second top scorer with 22 off 16 balls in England's other warm-up game against the West Indies who had triumphed by seven wickets in Fatullah.
They reached a 132 target with 3.5 overs to spare with Moeen bowling two overs for 23 runs.
Moeen played all three ODI's against the West Indies in Antigua and two of the three Twenty20 clashes in Barbados before flying to Bangladesh with the rest of the England squad for the ICC tournament.
