Moeen Ali can look forward to his first World Cup after being named in the 15 strong England squad for the 2015 tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
The Worcestershire all-rounder's inclusion is no surprise given his form during the series in Sri Lanka which ended on Tuesday.
The squad announced on Saturday morning also incorporates the Tri-Nations Series with host nation Australia and India next month.
Moeen was promoted to open the innings against Sri Lanka – a role he has occupied for several years at New Road – and he finished as his side's second highest scorer in the seven game series.
The highlight was a superb 119 in the opening game in Colombo.
Moeen also picked up five wickets in the series and had his side's second best economy rate.
His World Cup call-up caps off a memorable 12 months at county and international level for Moeen.
He scored his maiden Test century against Sri Lanka at Headingley and picked up 19 wickets in the series win over India.
Moeen took longer to establish himself in the one-day side despite an encouraging start to his England career last winter in the West Indies with scores of 44, 10 and 55 opening the innings in partnership with Michael Lumb.
He was not picked for the home ODIs versus Sri Lanka and the first three ODIs against India but impressed on his recall for the final two games of that series – and since then has not looked back.
With Worcestershire, Moeen averaged over 60 in eight LV = County Championship appearances and helped them gain promotion to Division One.
He will have a new captain with England in one-day cricket after Alastair Cook was replaced by Eoin Morgan.
Moeen had opened alongside Cook in six of the seven games in Sri Lanka.
