Moeen Chasing Personal Double In Second Test In Dubai

Moeen Chasing Personal Double In Second Test In Dubai

Moeen Ali will be hoping to complete two personal milestones when England take on Pakistan in the second Test in Dubai starting tomorrow (Thursday).

The Worcestershire all-rounder needs three more wickets to reach 50 in Test cricket in what would be his 18th Test.

But the 28-year-old is also just three wickets away from getting to the 200 mark in first class cricket.

Moeen made his Test debut 16 months ago against Sri Lanka at Lord's and his 47 wickets at the highest level have cost 37.68 runs apiece at an economy rate of 3.86 runs per over.

His best Test return was his 6-67 in helping to secure victory against India at the Ageas Bowl during the summer of 2014.

Moeen made his first class debut more than a decade ago – for Warwickshire against Cambridge UCCE at Cambridge in May 2005.

It was only after the departure of Gareth Batty from New Road at the end of the 2009 season that Moeen was given the chance to become more of a front-line spinner by Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.

To date he has accumulated 197 wickets from 138 matches with a career best performance of 6-29 against Lancashire at Old Trafford in 2012.

That match also gave Moeen his best match haul of 12-96.
