Moeen Ali was unable to add to yesterday’s double success as England picked up only one wicket on the last day of their final Ashes warm-up match with a Cricket Australia X1 in Townsville.
The Worcestershire all-rounder resumed the fourth day with figures of 2-34 from 11 overs and sent down another 21 overs.
He ended with 2-88 from 32 overs, nine of which were maidens, and the only wicket of the day went to leg spinner Mason Crane.
But 18-year-old Jason Sangha and Cricket Australia captain Matthew Short both hit centuries as their side, who had resumed on 121-3, ended proceedings on 364-4.
The duo cashed in on a flat pitch and put on 263 for the fourth wicket before stumps.
Sangha was finally dismissed for 133 after becoming the second youngest player to score a first class hundred against England since India’s Sachin Tendulkar at 17 years and 107 days in a Test in 1990.
Short finished unbeaten on 134 to add to his first innings 51 and four England wickets.
Moeen and England will now turn all their attentions to the opening Test in Brisbane which gets underway next Thursday (November 23).
