Moeen Ali fell cheaply on the final day as England went down by 120 runs in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide to go 2-0 down in the best of five series.
The Worcestershire all-rounder was dismissed for the second time in the match by spinner Nathan Lyon who had a spell at Blackfinch New Road last summer.
Moeen (2) went in at number seven, attempted to sweep Lyon and was given out lbw.
He reviewed the decision but it was umpires call with the ball clipping the top of the off stump.
The 30-year-old has scored 105 runs in four innings batting at number six in the series.
England resumed on 176-4 but skipper Joe Root was dismissed without addition to his overnight 67.
Lyon, who played four County Championship matches for Worcestershire, finished with figures of 25-6-45-2.
But it was paceman Mitchell Starc who blew away the lower order and he finished with 5-88 from 19.2 overs.
England now face a Cricket Australia X1 in Perth in a two-day match on Saturday and Sunday.
