Moeen Falls To Stunning Lyon Catch After Making 25 As England Falter

moeen ali fell victim to a superb return catch by nathan lyon as england came off second best on day three of the second ashes test despite a later flurry of australian wickets in adelaide.

the worcestershire all-rounder, again batting at number six, made 25 from 57 balls including successive boundaries off lyon on the leg side.

but moeen, who had scored 38 and 40 in the first test in brisbane, saw lyon hang onto a one-handed catch away to his left.

england were then 132-6 in reply to australia’s 442-8 declared and were bowled out for 227 in 76.1 overs.

lyon, who had a stint at New Road as worcestershire’s overseas player last summer, ended with four wickets.

in addition to moeen, he also accounted for opener alastair cook before cleaning up the england tail and ending with figures of 24.1-5-60-4.

australia skipper steve smith did not enforce the follow despite his side having a lead of 215 on first innings.

but by the close they had lost four wickets for 53 including smith himself for six with james anderson and chris woakes claiming two wickets apiece.
