Moeen “fit And Ready To Play” If He Gets The Call From England

Moeen “fit And Ready To Play” If He Gets The Call From England

Moeen Ali insists he is "fit and ready to play" if he gets the call from England to fly out to the West Indies later this week for the remainder of the current tour.

The Worcestershire all-rounder suffered an abdominal strain while bowling for his country in the World Cup clash with Bangladesh five weeks ago.

But the 27-year-old came through Worcestershire's LV = County Championship clash against champions Yorkshire at New Road with no ill effects.

Moeen scored 62 in the first innings and bowled a combined total of 11 overs for 48 overs over the two innings.

He said afterwards: "I tore my abdominal muscles in the World Cup when bowling but it's good now.

"I've prepared really well at Worcester with the phsio Ben Davies and the fitness and conditioning coach Ross Dewar.

"They've got me fit and I'm ready to play now.

"I felt good with the bat in the first innings, got a decent ball in the second innings. I bowled a bit in this game and I bowled 10 overs in practice today.

"I'm fully fit now and ready to play. England will decide later this week and I'll be ready to go if I get the call. I can't wait to get out there.

"I was really disappointed to be injured and anytime you play for England it is very exciting and once you have had a taste, you just want to keep playing for England."

Moeen would be available for the final two Tests in the Windies ahead of the home series with New Zealand and the Ashes battle against Australia.
