Moeen “getting To The Peak Of My Batting” Working On Doosra Delivery

Moeen “getting To The Peak Of My Batting” Working On Doosra Delivery

Moeen Ali believes he is aproaching his peak as a batsman and revealed he is working on adding the 'doosra' delivery to his bowling armoury which he expects to unleash in the near future.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has made the breakthrough with England at ODI and Twenty20 level during the tour of the West Indies.

He was pleased with his performance in the ODI's, scoring 109 runs and taking three wickets, and then appeared in the second and third Twenty20 internationals.

Moeen, in an interview for Sky Sports, said: "The last couple of weeks have been fantastic. I didn't expect to play but I trained hard and to get the call was fantastic.

"I was pleased with the ODI's. It was just to show I can handle international cricket and it was a nice little start. There is a long way to go but the start was very pleasing.

"My building on starts to innings has got better the last couple of years but I'd still like to be more hungry and greedy.

"Hopefully I'm getting to the peak of my batting and over the next few years will be quite successful."

As regards his bowling, Moeen said: "I see myself as a proper bowler now. I've been bowling quite a lot for Worcestershire over the last three or four years. I feel I know what to do."

When asked about developing the doosra, Moeen said: "I didn't use it in the one-day series. I don't think I've bowled long enough to use it yet.

"I've been working on it in practice and it's getting there. If I keep working hard at it, hopefully it will come out soon."
