Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes believes Moeen Ali's England breakthrough will inspire other Worcestershire players to try and reach the same heights.
And Rhodes has revealed the hunger of Moeen to ensure 2013, when he scored more than 2,000 runs in all competitions, was not a "freak" year – by scoring heavily again this season.
Moeen was part of England's squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh and played in all four fixtures against New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Netherlands after featuring in two warm-up games against West Indies and India.
Before that the 26-year-old had played in three ODI's and two Twenty20 internationals against the West Indies following a successful spell in Australia with the Lions.
Rhodes feels Moeen's call-up and inclusion showed what can be achieved through hard work and determination to improve.
He said: "No-one hit more balls in practice than Moeen and he thoroughly deserved his Lions call-up first of all and then it was fantastic one of our players kicked on to get into the team that played in the West Indies and the ICC World Twenty20.
"What a fantastic thing that is for this club, that we've now got an England player who loves playing at this club.
"But also the guys see what he has done with a bit of hard work, recognise that and believe with a similar amount of work they might be able to achieve something like that."
Moeen has looked in good touch during the early part of the season with 69 against Hampshire and a rapid 41 against Kent before registering a second innings duck.
Rhodes said: "He looks class – and he is class. He proved it last year with the amount of runs he scored and I know he is out this year to make sure that was not a freak year.
"He is desperate and determined to have a heavy run-scoring year."
