Moeen Ali has been named in the England squad for the ODI Series against Sri Lanka next month.

The Worcestershire all-rounder and his team-mates will fly out to Colombo immediately after the conclusion of the English domestic season.

Moeen is scheduled to play in the County’s final Specsavers County Championship match against Yorkshire at Blackfinch New Road starting on Monday, September 24.

The England team will arrive in Sri Lanka on the following Monday (October 1).

After two warm-up games, they will take on Sri Lanka in five ODIs from October 10 to 23.

England National Cricket Selectors have named a 16-strong squad.

Liam Plunkett will miss the first three ODIs for his wedding. He will be available for the fourth and fifth ODIs.

Warwickshire seamer Olly Stone has been called-up to the squad for the first time as Plunkett’s replacement.

Yorkshire all-rounder David Willey was not considered for selection due to a back injury.
