Moeen To Celebrate Fifth Anniversary After Named In England Squad

Moeen Ali has been included in the England Test and ODI squad for the tour of the West Indies in the New Year – and will celebrate the fifth anniversary of first representing his country.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has been named in the party for the three Tests and five ODIs – with the squad for the three T20Is to be announced in due course.

Moeen made his first England appearances in the Carribean during the early party of 2014.

He played in three ODIs in the opener’s role at North Sound, Antigua and had scores of 44, 10 and 55.

Moeen has not looked back since that first taste of international cricket and to date has clocked up 55 Test, 87 ODI and 25 T20Is.

England will fly out in early January for the two month tour before flying home to participate in a mouth-watering summer including the ICC World Cup and an Ashes series.

Moeen is currently recharging his batteries after a successful tour of Sri Lanka in which England triumphed in all formats including a 3-0 whitewash in the Test Series.

The Rapids Vitality Blast winning captain’s haul of 18 wickets was his best in an overseas series.

It took his tally to 30 from his last five Tests since regaining his place.

The England Test squad is unchanged for the Windies tour while Tom Curran and David Willey return to the ODI squad with Sam Curran, Liam Dawson and Olly Stone missing out.
