Moeen Voted Sports Personality Of The Year At Asian Achievers Awards

Moeen Ali was voted Sports Personality Of The Year at the 15th Asian Achievers Awards which took place at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, London.

The awards highlight the outstanding achievements and contributions of Asians across all sectors of community, business and media.

Moeen has had a year to remember so far with England, helping them to win back the Ashes after making key contributions with bat and ball.

The Worcestershire all-rounder ended as England's third highest scorer in the five match series with 293 runs from eight innings at an average of 36.62.

In a series dominated by seam and pace bowlers, Moeen also played his part with the ball in picking up 12 wickets at a cost of 45.50 runs apiece.

But the 28-year-old also helped Worcestershire reach the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast and securing a home tie for the first time with his superb 90 at Northampton and rapid 65 against Derbyshire.

Chief Guest for the evening was Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP.

Moeen was also amongst the finalists for the 2015 Birmingham Sports Awards for 2015 in the Professional Sportsman section – a category he won 12 months ago.

But this time the victor was Birmingham City FC's 19-year-old winger Demarai Gray who has represented England at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level.
