Moeen Warms Up For Opening Odi With Rapid 70 For England

Moeen Ali warmed up for England's opening ODI against Bangladesh on Friday by making a rapid 70 to steer his side to a four wicket victory over a Bangladesh Select X1 in Fatullah.

The Worcestershire all-rounder featured in the crucial sixth wicket stand of 139 in 17 overs with skipper Jos Buttler.

Moeen came to the wicket in the humid conditions – and temperatures in their mid 30s – with England 170-5 in pursuit of a 310 target in 50 overs.

He quickly came to terms with a slow pitch and even out-scored Buttler at times, collecting many of his runs between long on and deep mid wicket.

The 29-year-old faced only 51 balls before he was dismissed with the scores level as England got home with 3.5 overs to spare.

Buttler finished 80 not out with opener James Vince (48) the other main contributor as he filled the role available after Alex Hales pulled out of the trip for security reasons along with skipper Eoin Morgan.

Earlier, Moeen had sent down seven overs for 41 runs as 121 from opener Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh to post 309-9.
