More Success For Worcs 2016 T20 Blast Player Santner

Worcestershire Rapids 2016 NatWest T20 Blast player Mitchell Santner continued his fine form in the ICC World T20 tournament as New Zealand overcame Pakistan by 22 runs in Mohali today.

Santner took his wicket tally to eight in three games as he recovered from an expensive first over to finish with 2-29 from four overs.

It followed on from his 4-11 against India in Nagpur and 2-30 versus Australia in Dharamsala and his overall figures are 12-0-70-8.

Santner, who will link up at New Road in mid May, is currently the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

And an ex Worcestershire player in Bangladesh spinner Shakib Al Hasan is the only player to have taken more victims with nine from four games.

Santner did not bat as the Black Caps posted 180-5 against Pakistan.

He opened the bowling and was struck for three fours by Sharjeel Khan in an initial over costing 15 runs as Pakistan raced to 66-1 in the six over powerplay.

But Santner only conceded one more boundary and enjoyed a double success.

Khalid Latif (3) was second out at 79, holing out to Grant Elliott at long on, and then Ahmed Shehzad (30) perished at deep mid wicket to Martin Guptill.

Santner could have had a third wicket but Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi survived a sharp chance first ball to Luke Ronchi.

Pakistan eventually closed on 158-5 as New Zealand made sure of their place in the latter stages of the competition.
