More Weather Frustration For Rapids After Second New Road Wash-Out

More Weather Frustration For Rapids After Second New Road Wash-Out

Worcestershire suffered more weather frustration as rain meant their home NatWest T20 Blast clash with Yorkshire Vikings on Friday evening was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy showers of rain from mid-afternoon onwards left umpires Richard Illingworth and Jeff Evans with little option but to call the game off shortly after 7pm.

It was a soggy return for former county legend Illingworth who was officiating in a competitive match involving Worcestershire at New Road for the first time.

For Worcestershire it was a second successive wash-out in the competition after last Friday's home game with Nottinghamshire Outlaws endured the same fate.

The Rapids will hope for better fortunes when they entertain Lancashire Lightning at New Road tomorrow (Sunday 2.30 start).
