Morris Makes Sole Breakthrough For County On Final Morning

Charlie Morris claimed Worcestershire's only wicket on the final morning of the LV County Championship clash with Surrey at New Road.

The paceman dismissed former Worcestershire batsman Vikram Solanki for 58.

Surrey reached 122-2 from 44 overs and required another 95 runs to register a victory.

Worcestershire bowled with plenty of discipline and accuracy and restricted Surrey to 92 runs from 30 overs during the session.

But in the overcast conditions the visitors batsmen were largely untroubled.

Solanki reached his half century with a clip for four off Morris. It came from 96 deliveries and contained seven fours.

The 100 came up in the 39th over via a straight drive for four by Zafar Ansari off Moeen Ali.

Morris made the breakthrough with his 49th Championship wicket of the season when Solanki was bowled via an inside edge for 58.

Surrey were then 106-2 and the stand between Solanki and Ansari was worth exactly 100 from 36 overs.

Another ex Worcestershire player replaced Solanki in Steven Davies and he reached 1,000 first class runs for the season with a cover drive for four off Morris.
