Morris Strikes Before Durham Wrap Up Six Wicket Win At New Road

Worcestershire paceman Charlie Moorris claimed his 31st wicket in first class cricket this season before Durham claimed a six wicket success in the LV = County Championship clash at New Road.

Durham resumed on 270-3 and scored the remaining 48 runs needed for victory for the loss of yesterday's centurion and skipper Paul Collingwood.

Collingwood started the day as if he intended to reach Durham's 318 target in double quick time as cover drove Joe Leach for four and then pulled him for six over mid wicket to the short pavilion side boundary.

But Morris removed the former England T20 skipper in the third over of the day.

Collingwood on 127 went to try and hit a shortish ball off the back foot through the offside and was caught behind by keeper Ben Cox for 127.

Collingwood and Michael Richardson had added 112 in 29 overs for the fourth wicket.

Morris has now taken 22 championship wickets, another six against Oxford MCCU and three against New Zealand.

Richardson cover-drove Morris for four to reach his 50 off 85 balls with six boundaries.

He finished unbeaten on 66 and Gordon Muchall five not out as victory was completed in the ninth over of the morning.

Morris finished with 2-99 from 24 overs, Leach 1-71 from 18 overs and Shantry 1-78 from 23 overs.

Worcestershire collected six points – three for batting and bowling – and Durham 19 points.
