Colin Munro will come face to face with Brendon McCullum in tomorrow's Worcestershire Rapids-Birmingham Bears derby at New Road – admitting that he tries to adopt the same mindset as his compatriot and New Zealand captain when at the wicket.
McCullum has linked up with the Bears after the thrilling ODI Series with England and will participate in the sell-out clash against the Rapids in a first versus second clash in the North Group.
Munro has been impressed with the way McCullum has led from the front with his aggressive style for the Black Caps and it has rubbed off on the 28-year-old.
Munro said: "He is a serious batter, a world class player. Some of the boys asked as soon as I joined up this season 'how do we get him out?'
"I could have made a lot of money if I could go and tell people how to get him out!
"He is a really clever player, the way he plays the game, and knows exactly where guys are trying to attack him, and he counteracts that really well.
"He is a tremendous leader, you can see that in the way he captains the New Zealand team, and we go out all aggressive throughout and even if we don't take wickets, we still try to be aggressive and believe our team can chase down anything."
Munro added; "Do I try to bat like him? I try to. I've still got a long way to go to get where he is but I've got the same mindset, absolutely.
"I think if you are quite negative in terms of playing your shots the bowler can settle to you and just bowl and bowl.
"It doesn't mean you've got to go out and slog, but if you are hitting good balls for runs, they've got to try and change something so it makes their margin of error a lot smaller."
