Colin Munro is determined to end his current spell with Worcestershire Rapids on a high – but would be happy to register a duck if the team reaches their first ever NatWest T20 Blast finals day.
Munro has been given permission by New Zealand Cricket to play in Saturday's quarter-final with Surrey Lions at the Kia Oval – subject to the Black Caps 'A' team not suffering an injury crisis ahead of their clash with Sri Lanka 'A' at Cardiff.
Munro has been a successful member of the Rapids team which qualified from the North Group for the last eight with only skipper Daryl Mitchell scoring more runs.
He has showcased his big-hitting capabilities with 14 sixes and is relishing going into the Lions den.
Munro said: "There will be 20,000 at the Oval but that is why we play the game, to play in front of big crowds and try and showcase our skills.
"We are playing against a county that is massive but we are not going to take a backward step.
"We are in a quarter-final and good enough to be there and, even though Surrey are a big county, who have played well, they might fear some of our players."
Munro added: "That will definitely be my last game for Worcestershire in 2014 and it will be nice to put in a good performance.
"But I'd be happy to get out for a duck if we get to the semis on finals day. I'd rather play for the team. That's what counts.
"To help the boys through to their first ever finals day in the competition would be awesome."
