Colin Munro had to settle for runners-up spot in the Ford Trophy as his Mondiale Auckland Aces side went down by 78 runs to Central Stags (Central Districts) in the final on his home ground at Colin Maiden Park today.
Munro, who was Worcestershire NatWest T20 Blast player last season, made 19 off 26 balls with three boundaries.
But none of the Auckland front-line batsmen were able to play a major innings as the Stags gained revenge for the defeat against the Aces in the first preliminary final last weekend.
Munro finished the competition with 369 runs at an average of 52.71 but he will be disappointed not to end up with a winners medal.
Central Districts were struggling at 3-2 after electing to bat but recovered to make 271-7 in their 50 overs.
There was a patient 53 from Kruger van Wyk and a rapid 51 from Dane Cleaver before Bevan Small's unbeaten 29 off 12 balls and Doug Bracewell's 24 not out off 18 deliveries helped the Stags to a challenging total.
For the Aces, opener Brad Cachopa made 40 but none of the batsmen between two and seven topped the 20 mark.
Munro, Worcestershire's second highest scorer in the T20 Blast in 2014, was sixth out at 101 in the 21st over, one of four victims for Andrew Mathieson (4-22) who destroyed the middle order and the Aces were dismissed for 193 in 38.2 overs.
