Meet Nile the Crocodile who will be Worcestershire’s snappy new mascot for this season’s NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup matches at New Road.
Nile is succeeding Peter Pear and, most recently, Roary Royal in the mascot role and will also be seen promoting the County in the local community via schools and Clubs. Worcestershire are keen to stress that Nile will be a friendly crocodile and there is no danger to life or limb from the aquatic reptile – and that includes opposing players!
However Nile will be interacting with children and all sections of the crowd before, during and after the limited overs games on the ground this summer as well as overseeing the toss ahead of matches.
The decision to appoint a crocodile continues the water theme following the launch of the Worcestershire Rapids identity for the Club’s 2014 NatWest T20 Blast campaign. Hopefully Nile will also be able to cheer on the Rapids at NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day on Saturday 23rd August as well as going for gold in the Mascot Race.
