New County Overseas Signing Travis Sparkles With Bat In Big Bash

New Worcestershire CCC overseas signing, Travis Head, made a major contribution with the bat when leading Adelaide Strikers to their Big Bash title success.

Head finished as the fourth highest overall run-getter in the recent mega T20 competition Down Under.

The big-hitting left hander scored 374 runs at an average of 53.42 and with a strike rate of 133.09.

Only D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes) and the Strikers duo of Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald scored more runs.

D’Arcy amassed 572 runs at an average of 57.20 and a strike rate of 148.57 followed by Carey – 443 at 49.22, 141.83) and Weatherald (383 at 31.91, 126.82).

After Head in fourth spot came Shane Watson with 331 at 36.77, strike rate 139.07, for Sydney Thunder.

Twenty-four-year-old Head has also played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He will link up with Worcestershire for the start of the season in April and will play in all formats through to September 15 bar a spell in June when Australia play England in five ODIs and a T20I.
